Week 6 - Adios Utah
This was my final week in the MTC, I fly out tomorrow evening and I am pretty excited about it. I've learned a lot here at the MTC, and met a lot of very cool people. But now I finally get to go out and have real experiences teaching real people who are looking for the Gospel in their life. There isn't much to write about this week so this email is going to be a bit short. Well, I got a haircut this week and have been doing things like that to prepare to leave. We started packing everything up Thursday night and so we will be ready to go by tomorrow morning. It really felt like I never was gonna leave this place but now it is finally happening! I went to the temple this morning. It was a great way to end our final week at the MTC. Elder Collins and I happened to see two good friends of ours on our way in to the temple and we got to do a session with them (see pic 0638). It was quite the stroke of luck haha. It was good to see them and say goodbye as they head out soon too.
My thought this week comes from the picture below actually. I thought it would be fitting considering we are heading out to do the Lord's work in the next 48 hours. It is from Matthew 28:19, you can look at the pic and read it. I know I'm not entirely ready and I am always feeling inadequate about my teaching and language abilities but I am so eager to get out there and get going. In Helaman 6:36 it says, "And thus we see that the Lord began to pour out his Spirit up on the Lamanites, because of their easiness and willingness to believe in his words." In El Salvador, I have heard that it is a lot like this scripture in that people are ready to hear the Gospel. I can't wait until I get to see the people accept this message, change, and be baptized.
I imagine it will be an even more difficult transition when I get to the field, but I'll be okay. Thank you for all of the support and love these past 6 weeks.
