Week 17 - Beach and Tarantulas
I thought I'd start off with a short journal entry from my week: "Today when we got home from a long day's work there was a huge tarantula crawling around and of course I lost my mind. Elder Ortega attempted to kill it, but it bolted for a little hole in our floor. We grabbed a stick and started prodding around in there and BOOM it shot out of the hole. We both freaked out, screaming like little girls. Luckily, Elder Ortega had the stick and he whacked it so hard that it literally exploded."It's a true story, pretty gross too. I didn't have time to get a pic or video, but in a crisis such as that there is no time for games. ;)
This week was another super fast week. I am sad that this change is already coming to an end, and I really hope Elder Ortega and I both stay here in Jiqui. The work is good as usual; we are finding people everyday, some of which accept the Gospel and it's blessings, and some that don't. I am learning something new every single day, and am trying to be a better missionary little by little. 2.5 months here in El Salvador and I am feeling a lot better. But anyway, we should have two baptisms this upcoming Saturday which is good.
We had a zone activity this Saturday where we cleaned up the park in Usulutan as part of Light The World, and that was fun. I also happened to get hot water in my shower the other day which was the weirdest feeling ever. Because we showered in the afternoon, the water was hot and wow it was a nice throwback. But I challenge you to take a freezing cold shower one day this week, it'll feel good with all that heat out there in Utah, hah. Also, a lot of people are getting sick here. It turns out it is their flu season, but we all got vaccinated and I haven't gotten sick yet so looks like the vaccine is proving itself. And then finally today we got to hit the beach with a bunch of the zones. Elder Collins zone happened to be there as well and we got to hangout for a couple hours which was sick! We got to have an oceanside lunch and chill and talk in English which was much needed. So crazy that we are both out here in El Salvador it blows my mind. Good times!
The photos won't load for this week, because i am currently in a sketchy computer place so I will send them next week. Not the most exciting week I have had out here but I miss you all and hope you are doing absolutely great during the most wonderful time of the year. Nos vemos!
