Week 22 - Earthquakes?

First week in 2019! And I hit 5 months tomorrow out here in the mission which is cool. All my time spent here in the same area and it really doesn't seem like I have been here for almost 4 months. Oh and good news! We killed the big tarantula in the house and haven't seen one since. We talked to the owner of the house to find a person who can come and spray down the whole place so that is a relief. Anyway, here are some quick highlights from the week:

Many of you know for the past few weeks I have just been rocking the Quaker Oats and milk combo for breakfast. I don't recommend it. But this week I got it dialed in. A lady from our ward gave me some bananas from her banana tree and so I mixed in the bananas with some peanut butter and my protein oatmeal and its pretty bomb. So that's solid.

Anyway...Last Monday we celebrated the beginning of a new year at different members' houses with lots of food. WOW a ton. The traditional food for Christmas and New Years is "panes con pollo" which is just shredded chicken with toasted french bread haha. But it's actually pretty good.

This week I had interchanges with my good bud Elder Caldwell. I headed out to his area in Osatlan to work and it was super cool. We first met in the MTC and now look at us -- comps for a day out in the jungles of Osatlan. We had some great experiences and spiritual lessons with some people out there, but during that night was the crazy part. We are sleeping and at about 4-5 am our beds, the house, just everything start shaking super hard. They call them "temblores" its like a mini earthquake I think. I just yelled "Oi bro what's going on?!" We both were kind of out of it, but it was strong enough to wake us up shake the room a bit.

This week we have been working with a lot of inactive families and members to find new investigators. Our mission president has promised us that if we want to baptize every week, we need to work in that way. The promise is so true. We have found 3 new people (now with baptismal dates) this week just from inactive families, and one that is 100% for the 19th of January. It is awesome to see that when we work in the Lord's way we find tons more success. And this week during my scripture study in Mosiah I have read the coolest things. The Book of Mosiah esta con todo. Make some time to read the first five chapters of Mosiah where King Benjamin is addressing his people, and think about the many things we should be doing to "prosper in the land" and the blessings that we can receive from doing them. He is spitting fire in these chapters! :) Have a great week everyone. Nos vemos!
