Week 25 - Changes!

This week was a big change in my mission! Here are some highlights:

On Tuesday, in Jiquilisco, I got to attend the baptism of Hermano Alex Mejia. Wow super awesome. Papi Ortega showed up with his comp from San Salvador and it was great to see him too. The baptism was amazing and Alex was so happy, he couldn't stop smiling. We had a lunch all together at his house afterward and then I headed back to pack up my bags. Yep, last day in Jiqui and it was sad to say goodbye. It was hard to leave it all behind.

But I am somewhere else now! On Wednesday I got transferred to my new area. Only a couple hours away from Jiqui but still very different. I am in a little place called Moncagua, it is a small town outside of the bigger city, San Miguel. My comp is named Elder Chamul and he is from Santa Ana in El Salvador. I was still a little bummed about leaving my old area but I am good now. When I got here, there was only one guy the missionaries were teaching... so I was feeling a little stressed to find new investigators. I got to know the members, and we ended up finding people to teach. We have put 3 baptismal dates already and so we will see what happens with that. Grinding out here in Moncagua.

My second day here a kind lady offered us some horchata that she made. We gladly took it and then put it in the fridge later that night. The next day during lunch, I pulled it out and took a long drink, like really long. As I swallowed, I realized how sour that milk was. How dumb could I be? Not even 2 minutes had passed before I was paying the price for that horchata... and with a bunch of stake conference meetings it made for an uncomfortable night. And hey, it is the same with the Gospel. :) The worldy way of living may look like a delicious horchata on the outside, but when we try it... it just turns out to be sour milk. It is better to live the pure teachings and doctrine of Jesus Christ, which is rich in blessings and brings true happiness, like a good ol' Darigold chocolate milk. This is example is silly but true haha. When we live the Gospel's teachings, we are blessed immensely. Always striving to live the Gospel!! Have an amazing week everyone. Nos vemos!
