Week 42 - Winter Wonderland

Buenos dias everybody! The title of my email is there because we have officially entered the winter season here in El Salvador. The temperature drops just a litte, so we are looking at about 93-ish degrees during the day and 83-ish at night. The winter season here is just rain, and when it rains, it pours. ;) Luckily, it has only been raining in the nighttime when we are almost in the house. Just the other night we came home from eating dinner and the street where we live was literally a river, and the lightning was even crazier. It was nuts!

This week we have changes again. This change went by scary fast. We found out this past week my comp is headed out to train a new Elder and so I will be getting a new comp here in my area. It's gonna be sad saying by to Elder Ramirez because he was a great companion and I was able to learn a lot from him. He is a powerful missionary and the whole change has been a good time. But I am excited for this upcoming week, to get a new comp and for all the new missionaries we will have in the zone here in La Union.

This past week I have really been diving into my studies. I have been having some great study sessions in the morning lately. This week I studied a talk that is called, "La Actitud de la Mente". It talks a lot about how at times we are the obstacles in the path of becoming successful missionaries because of the way we think. It also mentions many techniques we can use to develop certain characteristics and become the person we want to be. "Why am I not the best missionary in the field?"or "Why am I not the best [insert occupation] in the company?"or whatever it may be. We aren't the best only because we don't believe that we are. But if we do believe that we are or can be, we are going to start to think and act like we have those characteristics. It's a simple principle, but super good stuff.

Have a wonderful Memorial Day and a great week everyone. Sending my love here from El Salvador. Nos vemos!

Love, Elder Johnson
