Week 44 - Scripture Power!

We have had an absolutely fantastic week! I have officially hit 10 months in the mission which is cool. Elder Lunt and I have truly seen miracles in the work and so many awesome things have happened this week. This week I am going to share 3 stories, two of which are super great.

First I have a story about a lady named, Karen. She is funny and likes to joke a lot, but has a lot of questions concerning the doctrine of our church compared to other churches. We had been teaching her and seeing lots of progression for two weeks. We invited her to read the Book of Mormon, and to pray and ask GOD if the book was true. We returned three days later. When we arrived, we started conversing with her siblings who happened to pass by. As Karen entered the room, she kicked the Book of Mormon across the room and said, "It's all a lie!" I was so shocked and angry I couldn't even speak. After a little bit of heated discussion, we asked her if she completed with invitation that we left with her. She told us she asked her pastor... Aye no! We left by simply bearing our testimonies and a little bit of "machete-ing." I was a little disappointed but I was able to see even more that receiving personal revelation and gaining one's own testimony is crucial.

The same day we passed by another house of two investigators whose name is Carlos and Helen. They are cousins and they are both 15 years old. We started talking a little about the Book of Mormon and he told us he had read 15 chapters. He says he believed it was true and wow we were so happy. We invited them to continue reading, to go to church, and to be baptized, to all of which they replied, "Yes!" We left the lesson feeling super good and just pumped for them!

The last experience was just the other day with a 23 year-old girl named Madali. We had only visited her around 2 times before and she is very nice and smart but didn't seem too positive. We had invited her to read the Book of Mormon as well and she told us when we arrived that she had read quite a bit. She liked it a lot! We shared even more about the book, the church, and invited her to go with us the following morning. She said she'd probably go. The next morning, we were waiting in the church and saw her come in with one of her friends and her baby. She thought church was super interesting and she loved it. We came by later that day and answered all of her questions and we can already see the conversion. We are going to invite her to be baptized this week and it's gonna be sweet!!

If you had noticed, all of these experiences that we have had this week have all come from the Book of Mormon. The book is powerful, and it is the most powerful tool for a lasting conversion to the Gospel. I love reading it, and I am always learning more every day that I read. I invite you all to do the same :) Have a wonderful week, love and miss y'all. Nos vemos!
