Week 46 - Sick Birthday
This was my first week officially as a 19 year old. Thank you all for the many birthday wishes and emails that I got, it means a lot! We had an interesting week... here are some details!
I never thought it would happen, but I officially got sick. Both my companion and I have some nasty parasites. I am not sure what we ate or what happened, but on Tuesday we had were feeling some symptoms of the flu such as head and body aches and pretty much everything else. It slowly got worse and the stomach pains were miserable. We finally went to the hospital yesterday and we got all the treatments we needed. We can already feel it working and feel 10x better. Unfortunately, this all had to go down on around my birthday, but we still had a good day. We had a zone meeting and afterwards they brought in a cake and it was good.
This week I had a cool experience. It was the day of my birthday, and the temptation to stay and rest a bit after the zone meeting was really convincing. As I thought about it, I immediately had the feeling that we needed to pass by the house of a man that we contacted in the street a few days earlier. His name is Reinaldo. He was a little drunk when we talked to him, but he said he wanted to change and stop drinking. I couldn't stop thinking about him, so I told my comp we should pass by his house. As we arrived, he told us he had been waiting for us. We shared a powerful message about Christ's Atonement and how it can help him change, and he committed to be baptized on the 20th of July. He came to church with us yesterday and truly enjoyed it. I am excited to see his progression in the Gospel in these next few weeks.
