Week 10 - Missionary Life
This week has definitely been more difficult than the rest. It has been made clear to me now that Satan works just as hard on investigators as the missionaries do. Hermano Napoleon Sanchez the night before his baptism as we were teaching him told us that he no longer wants to be baptized. It was very frustrating. Not because of him, but because it is hard to explain the value of his baptism and the Gospel. If I handed him a bar of gold, he would take it in an instant because it is worth a ton of money. But baptism is worth more! Can you put a monetary value on your salvation? I'd say you can't.
But anyway, we run into a lot of issues. Many won't give up their coffee, or they're living with their partner but won't get married, and often we find people who are unable to read, which makes it extra difficult. And just yesterday we were teaching a lesson to these two guys who take care of their mom as she is not well. They live in terrible conditions, similar to the conditions of the cows living outside their front door. Their mom is bed-ridden and can't talk or move, I felt like I was just watching her slowly die. It was awful. And these two men were so nice to us, but just looked so sad, its hard to describe. The people here are really great, and oh man we really are blessed.
However, we do know that the Lord has prepared many, and is preparing more right now all over the world to receive the Gospel (Alma 16:14-16). And although sometimes it's rough, the Lord is with us and I believe He is putting people in our path. We are still working hard out here! Sorry for the lack of photos this week, only one from our Pupusa P-days haha. If you can guess how many pupusas I have eaten so far I'll send you a package :) I am counting by the way. Have a good week everyone. Nos vemos!
