Week 28 - Changin' the Game

Buenos Dias a todos otra vez! So for those of you that didn't hear the announcement, missionaries now can talk to their families via phone call/video call on a weekly basis, under the rules of their mission presidents. When we received the news, I literally didn't believe it. I told the leaders that it was a good joke... but then it turned out to be legit! Anyway, here are the updates in the work:

So for those of you that read my email last week, we are still working with our investigators Felipe, Alex, and Irvin. They all want to be baptized but the girlfriend of Felipe refuses. Satan is truly working hard to stop them from joining the Church. We have a plan for them this week, and our mission president, Presidente Duran, is going to come and help us out a bit. I am looking forward to see how he works and if we can figure this whole thing out.

This past week my companion has given me the opportunity to teach and talk more... because almost every day he is falling asleep in lessons! At first it was kind of funny, but really that shouldn't happen so we are gonna fix that up a bit haha. But everything is going super good with the Spanish. I can understand everything, there are a few cases where I will miss a word or something, but almost everything else I hear and am able to respond. It's been a huge blessing from Heavenly Father that I am now able to communicate with everyone I meet, talk to, and teach in only 5 months.

Not a ton of amazing things this week, but I have a quick little story. There is a 12 year old named Brian that we are currently teaching. Whenever we come to share a message, we always start with a magic trick. He can do a few, and I learned some while on the mish. There was one that I showed him that he never understood and he was dying to know how I did it. I told him if he came to church that I would share the secret with him. He came to church on Sunday with his uncle (who is a member), and he sat by me. I explained a little about the meetings and introduced him to Alex and Irvin and some other young men. He got to know them and immediately became friends. At the end of the two meetings, I asked him if he wanted to know the magic trick, because he kept his part of the deal. He said, "Well, only if you want to. If not, it doesn't matter."He had a good enough experience in church that finding out the trick didn't matter. He now has some new amigos, enjoyed church, felt the Spirit, and he nor I could stop smiling. The Gospel brings happiness!!

Happy President's Day :) Have a good week! Nos vemos!
