Week 31 - Miracles
Another great week in the mission! Gonna skip to the good parts:
We had changes this week, and I woke up early Wednesday morning to travel to San Salvador and pick up my new kid! His name is Elder Peralta from the Dominican Republic and is 21 years old. He still hasn't even hit a week in the mission yet haha, but he is super pumped to be out here and working and it's been good so far. The only thing is that right now, us 4 missionaries are living in one small house with only one bathroom. I really hope that this week we can find a new house and get them outta here because it is brutal!
Anyway, the first night together with my new comp, we had planned a lesson with Felipe's family. I had a feeling that we need to stop by and talk with his girlfriend one last time. I had honestly been frustrated with her - not anger or hate, but more just sad. But I decided we are just gonna go in there and have faith that the Lord helps us out. After talking to Felipe for a minute outside, I asked him if we could go inside and talk with Ana (the girlfriend). Although he didn't suggest it, I insisted and we went in. As we all sat down with her, I could see that she really didn't want to talk. I simply told her that we care for her and her family. I honestly don't remember all the words we said but it was along those lines. That the Lord loves them, we love them like family, and we are here to help them. Also that Alex and Irvin are two awesome kids who are already trying to live the teachings of Jesus Christ, and we know without a doubt they are ready to be baptized. We talked for about 10 minutes and at the end, we asked permission for them to be baptized for the last time. She said, "Yes, I agree." Two days later, she signed the baptismal form and we will have the baptisms this upcoming Saturday. I can't remember everything that happened that night but I couldn't even believe it, and neither could the other members that heard about it. The Lord had softened her heart and she even said she might come to Church and see what it's like. My new companion didn't understand everything that had just happened in the moment, but I did and I was so pumped and so happy. Todo es posible con fe!
But yeah, it has been a good week and this week will be even better. I hit 7 months this past week and wow it's hard to believe. I honestly feel like it has only been 3 or 4. The time is going by super fast right now. We are working super hard and have a goal of 16 baptisms as a district for the month of April. I know we can do it but we'll have to work extra hard and efficiently. I was reading in Alma 16:21 and I thought it applied well here in Moncagua! Änd now after the church had been established throughout all the land--having got the victory over the devil, and the word of God being preached in its purity in all the land, and the Lord pouring out his blessings upon the people. . ." That's the goal! Have a great week everyone. I have photos but they wont load...next week! Miss and love you all! Nos vemos!
